As communications director for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, Chris aims to bring a fresh, transparent and inclusive approach to government communications. Previously Chris had a successful broadcast news career as a political reporter and anchor in markets as diverse as Amarillo and Chicago, as well as at two Kansas City news stations.
His favorite life adventure was a five month trip backpacking through Mexico and Central America when he found church where his grandparents were married, learned to scuba dive in Honduras and hiked volcanos in Guatemala and Costa Rica.
Mark Van Baale, Social Media Manager, City of Kansas City, Mo.
As the Social Media Manager for the City of Kansas City, MO, Mark oversees the City’s social media accounts and advises City departments on their use of social media when connecting with residents. He is also known to engage with residents at all times of the day via the City’s Twitter account to help them with questions or address concerns.
In his spare time, Mark manages the KC Job Seekers website at http://kansascityjobseekers.com and @kcjobseekers on Twitter. In its 5 year existence, the KC Job Seekers site has helped numerous job seekers in Kansas City find jobs and/or connect with others at networking events.
