Event description

Description

BRING CODE INTO YOUR CLASSROOM WITH MICRO:BIT!

Join Kids Code Jeunesse (KCJ) for an evening of hands-on learning with code on Nov. 14! During this workshop, we will explore and practice sequences, loops, variables and other fundamental coding concepts using the micro:bit and the MakeCode platform. A micro:bit is a small programmable computer - a single board, just larger than a matchbox - that easily and quickly introduces students to the rich potential of both code and physical computing. With its 5 x 5 blinking light LED grid, the micro:bit is a powerful tool for animation, expression, and also for visualizing basic math and pre-algebra concepts. With its many capabilities, from accelerometer to temperature sensors, it has boundless applications throughout the curriculum.

The micro:bit platform is well suited for middle-years instruction and is used in schools around the world. We will be offering a set of 10 micro:bits to attending teachers for continued use in their classrooms! Travel permitting, we can also work with you to deliver Micro:bit workshops in your classrooms over the next few months.

WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS: Please bring a fully charged laptop with USB port.
