Inside Out - Bringing Real Characters to the Stage - Every. Time.
Real, captivating characters exist inside of everyone. This 4 week course will focus on delving deep into your own life experiences to create fully realized characters that live and breathe within the world of a scene. You’ll go to a level far beyond caricature, creating individuals that affect the world around them. You’ll leave with tools that will allow you to this every time you improvise.
Week 1 - Creating a Character
Class one will have you create a single character and live within it for the day’s workshop, creating an instantaneous life history and point of view, and learning how to use muscle memory to bring the character to life any time you want.
Week 2 - Stepping Out
In the 2nd class of this course, you will create original characters and bring them out into the world. This week focuses on doing scenework with your characters, exploring how once you escape into a character, the rest of the improv takes care of itself.
Week 3 - Multiple Personalities
Week 3 gets a little more advanced as we focus on doing what we did in the first two weeks FAST. We learn to instantly create multiple characters using physical tools and mental imagery. This week tends to take improvisers out of their comfort zone as they are challenged to create emotionally driven characters without hesitation.
Week 4 - The Total Package
This final week puts together the tools used in this month-long course to showcase yourself both as an individual and a member of an ensemble. We’ll focus on taking these skills and applying them to auditions, live performances, and other mediums so that you can take these tools into the work that you do once the course is over.
