Event description

Description

This year’s Kashmir EU Week is organised by the Kashmir Council-EU with the support and collaboration of the Friends of Kashmir Group. Our host in the European Parliament is Dr. S. Karim MEP.
The two main themes of this year’s Kashmir-EU Week: European Institutions Promoting global peace and security & Human Rights-the facts!

Our aim is to bring together representatives of different interest groups, European policy makers, and intellectuals, in an environment where participants feel free to discuss the important issues raised by the current situation in Kashmir. We intend that these discussions will provide the basis for a more coordinated approach to the issue of Kashmiri self-determination.

For the first time, 2017 includes a Youth Leadership Forum. It will allow the most promising of Kashmir's intellectual elite to debate the policies and practices of the current generation of Kashmir's political and economic leaders. The Kashmir Council-EU will choose 15 students from different parts of the Kashmiri diaspora to take part.

Opening Ceremony & Exhibition Launch
Kashmir-EU Week 2017 also features an arts festival including a group of musicians from Kashmir. Tuesday 9th October 18:30h at Press Club Brussels (Rue Froissart 95, 1000 Bruxelles). A detailed programme will be available shortly on our website www.kashmircouncil.eu

Please note that, due to the security procedures currently in force in the Parliament, Conference participants who need a Visitor’s badge to gain access to the building must apply for their badge.
If you do not already have a badge, the Kashmir Council will be happy to process your badge application provided we receive application form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeEd1IgnhZ7eBvuyKw92t8b0IfaVswxJtIcilqeUg8CXppidQ/viewform duly completed no later than Friday 30th September 2017.
