Karl Singporewala: Cosmos, Memory, Scale | A Private Viewing

SOAS Gallery and the Shapoorji Pallonji Institute of Zoroastrian Studies would like to welcome you to a private viewing of Karl Singporewala: Cosmos, Memory, Scale. Join us for a drinks reception and preview of the exhibition before it opens to the general public from 9 October – 13 December 2025.

About the Exhibition

The 2025 SOAS Artist-in-Residence Fellowship of the Shapoorji Pallonji Institute of Zoroastrian Studies presents a new major solo exhibition of Karl Singporewala’s sculptural interpretations linked to Zoroastrian symbolism.

This exhibition delves into the rich visual language of Zoroastrian motifs and iconography, and features large-scale installations with new and past artworks from Singporewala’s catalogue. The show offers fresh interpretations on heritage, memory and material culture through architectural installations and new artworks developed during his fellowship at the institute. In collaboration with the curatorial team, the exhibition will also showcase a number of historic objects on loan from cultural institutions and private collectors which have helped frame the context of the show.

The curatorial team:

· Nafiseh Ansari (SOAS MPhil Student, History, Religions and Philosophies)

· Dominika Miriam Chmielewska (SOAS student, BA World Philosophies)

· Imogen Edwards (Executive Officer, SOAS Shapoorji Pallonji Institute of Zoroastrian Studies)

· Mariano Errichiello (Co-Chair and Executive Director, SOAS Shapoorji Pallonji Institute of Zoroastrian Studies)
