Our Chapter

The Stamford Alumni Chapter was founded in 1975 and chartered May 9, 1976. The ten chapter members were Dr. Edward Allen, Joseph Arnette, Jr., George Evans, Dr. Romele Howard, Jerome Lee, Dr. Roy Lee, Dr. Dennie Simons, Thomas Smith, Ed Strayhorne, and Dr. Leroy Vaughn. The first officers were:

Ed Strayhorne - Polemarch

Dr. Dennie Simons - Vice Polemarch

Joseph Arnette, Jr. - Keeper of Records and Exchequer

Jerome Lee - Strategus

It should be noted that Dr. Dennie Simons is a 60 year member while Dr. Romele Howard is a 50 year member.

The Stamford Alumni Chapter is located in Stamford, CT and has a history of serving the youth of the city of Stamford as well as greater Fairfield County. Our community service programs include providing SAT Workshops, college scholarships, tutoring and mentoring, Thanksgiving baskets and Toys for Tots. The current membership, like the charter members, consist of professional men who are doctors, dentists, attorneys, clergy, certified public accountants, educators, government officials, entrepreneurs, and a host of other occupations and professions.

We are part of the Northeastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. As a member we contribute to and support both national and local charities. Additionally, the Chapter, through its Guide Right programs and its Foundation, a 501 c 3 organization, sponsors an annual Scholarship Dinner Dance in February and a Golf Tournament in August. The funds from these two events are use to used to provide scholarships, tutoring, mentoring and conduct SAT Workshops.
