The Story
Kamuela Enos is the first Director of the Indigenous Innovation-Office of the Vice President for Research & Innovation, University of Hawaiʻi. In this moderated session, he will share how the Indigenous peoples of Hawaiʻi had calibrated systems that created abundance for current and future generations. Join two long-time friends in a virtual mountain-side chat as they discuss how lived experience is guiding the University knowledge systems to develop solutions for contemporary contexts, with an explicit focus on developing enterprises optimized for the repair, restoration and regeneration of peoples and places.
About Kamuela Enos
Kamuela Enos is the Director of the newly created Office of Indigenous Innovation for the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation at the University of Hawaiʻi. Before taking this position he worked for 11 years at MAʻO Organic Farms where he served as their Director of Social Enterprise. He was born and raised in Waiʻanae on the island of Oʻahu. He received a bachelor’s degree in Hawaiian studies and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He sits on the boards of numerous community-based nonprofits, and was a commissioner on President Obama's White House Initiative on Asians and Pacific Islanders.
About Dr. Kealoha Fox
Dr. Kealoha Fox is a rising young Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) scientist, practitioner, author and Mom working at AlohaCare. The recipient of more than 50 awards and distinctions, she serves on the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, National Congress of American Indians, and Obama Foundation.
