Description

Organized by the Agribusiness Market Ecosystem Alliance (AMEA), this regional workshop will introduce participants to the International Workshop Agreement (IWA) process to develop the global definition for professional farmer organizations.

The workshop will give a brief introduction to the ISO/IWA process, discuss the current proposal, identify the next steps in the process and engage local and global stakeholders in the development of the global definition for professional farmer organizations.

The event will also provide a platform for AMEA to introduce its alliance and the AMEA Standardized Approach to the participants.

The workshop will be led by the Independent IWA Chair, Joanne Sonenshine, and by representatives of the Uganda Cooperative alliance and Rikolto (representing AMEA as a member).

09:00 – 09:15 Welcoming remarks by Ivan Asiimwe (Uganda Cooperative Alliance)

09:15 – 09:45 Introduction to AMEA

09:45 – 10:00 Introduction to the ISO/IWA process to define professional farmer organizations

10:45 – 11:45 Interactive session on the global definition (provocative statements and discussions)

11:45 – 12:00 Closing session

12:00 – 12:30 Networking lunch (to be confirmed)
