Join Chef Roel Estanilla of pig & fire for a Kamayan Feast, the ultimate cultural immersive dining experience at the beautiful Lantern Loft event space. Featuring over 15 items of well-loved Filipino dishes, including shrimp, lechon pork belly, whole fish fry, exotic fruit, AND halo-halo for dessert, this is one culinary experience you won't soon forget. Speciality cocktails and drink specials provided by The Lantern Loft and are available for purchase. So bring your appetite, and reserve your seat! Please reserve your seats early as seats are limited. Due to the nature of the event, tickets will not be sold at the door.

What is Kamayan?

Kamayan is a traditional family-style Filipino feast composed of colorful arrays of food served on banana leaves...and eaten without utensils! “Kamayan” means “by hand,” and what better way to enjoy food amongst friends and family but to gather around and have a family-style Filipino feast using our hands to eat. Not to worry, we will teach you how to eat rice with your hands!

About Chef Roel

Roel Estanilla is the Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Pig & Fire, along with his wife Jen, a pediatrician. An Oak Park dad, Roel has been in the culinary field for over 13 years, having trained by the best chefs on the Las Vegas Strip at the AAA-Five Diamond and Forbes Five-Star Hotel ARIA Resort & Casino and at Mandalay Bay Resort. Roel is no stranger to fast-paced, high-volume food production. He has worked at restaurant, buffet, and banquet services and was part of the team that cooked for President Obama's 2010 presidential banquet held at ARIA.

Born in the Philippines and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Roel's love for cooking started in his mother's kitchen, helping his parents in their catering business in Northern California. His mother, "Nanay” Rosalinda, was known for cooking up flavorful Filipino feasts for every type of gathering. Roel's passion lies in sharing his Filipino roots by preparing his favorite dishes for family, friends, and loved ones, and brings his experience to the catering world to provide top-notch service to every event.

Pig & Fire is a catering company focused on Filipino-Asian Fusion cuisine, whose mission is to bring fresh Filipino cuisine to the Chicago area using high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients, including vegetarian and gluten-free dishes.
