Event Overview
The Greater Sydney Nepalese Multicultural Centre (GSNMC Inc.) warmly invites the community to the Kalash Yatra – Walk with Purpose, taking place on Friday, 29 August 2025, as part of the Sydney Spiritual Festival 2025. This sacred event will be a vibrant expression of spiritual devotion, cultural pride, and community unity, set against the diverse multicultural backdrop of Greater Sydney.
The festival will feature a grand Kalash Yatra (procession), followed by Vedic rituals, cultural performances, and spiritual discourses. The event offers a rare opportunity for families, youth, and elders to come together in a shared celebration of Nepalese heritage and collective purpose.
What is Kalash Yatra?
The Kalash Yatra is a revered spiritual procession where devotees carry Kalash—holy water pots adorned with sacred leaves and coconuts—on their heads. It symbolizes purity, fertility, and the divine life force. Rooted in Vedic traditions, this ritual is performed to invite blessings for peace, prosperity, and community wellbeing.
We are honored to host Pandit Dinabandhu Pokharel, a respected Vedic scholar and spiritual leader from Nepal, who will lead the rituals and guide participants through the Kalash Yatra. His presence brings spiritual depth and authenticity, offering the community a rare opportunity to engage with rich Sanatan Dharma practices under his guidance.
Fundraising for a Community Dream
This event also serves as a fundraising initiative for the establishment of a Multicultural Community Centre in Sydney—the primary vision of GSNMC Inc
