Come join us for an evening dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan Buddhism and the Kag Chode Monastic School in Mustang, Nepal. All proceeds will go directly to the Kad Chode Monastic Foundation.
The Kag Chode Thupten Samphel Ling Monastery, located high in Himalayan mountains of Mustang, Nepal, was founded in 1429. For nearly 500 years, the monastery housed 100 monks practicing Tibetan Buddhism and has remained a vital part of the community ever since. Unfortunately, due to difficult economic conditions, and a lack of development, many monks have left the region for other opportunities in Nepal and abroad. In order to preserve the Tibetan Buddhist culture and practice, renowned Chief Abbott, Khenpo Tenzin Sangpo, established a monastic school and hostel on the grounds in 2009. Serving only 20 monks in the first few years, the school seeks to provide an education for orphaned, poor, and low-caste students. We recently had the opportunity to speak at length with Khenpo Tenzin Sangpo, and listen to his desire to improve facilities and opprtunities for the school. For this reason, the fundraiser is set up to encourage the preservation of Tibetan Buddhism, and the conservation of the Kag Chode Thupten Samphel Ling Monastic school and hostel.
Come and enjoy an OPEN BAR featuring Heart & Honey Bar services, wine from Madroña Vineyards, and local beer.
Don't miss out on the LIVE MUSIC throughout the evening by Bay Area musicians!
