Event description

Description

Blue Line K9 holds odor recognition classes at different times throughout the year. These classes will focus on how to teach your dog to recognize an odor and alert you to the presence of that odor. This skill is an extremely rewarding experience for you and your dog. Take this new skill and compete in competitions through NACSW or AKC Scent Work trails for an even more rewarding experience. Learn from our experience as Police K9 Handlers to teach your dog this new skill. Click the Registration Button below to register for the March 2019 Scent Detection Class. The class is $130 per dog and is open to all breeds.

Recognized odors for AKC and NACSW; Birch, Anise, Clove, and Cypress. A personal scent detection kits is required as part of the class. Follow the link for details, https://bluelinek9dogtraining.com/scent-detection

The class meets once a week for 6 weeks for an hour and a half. The first class for 2019 will start March 16th and continue for the next six Saturdays. The classes will start by teaching your dog how to use their nose to find its food or toy. Then we teach you how transition from associating the odor of the food or toy to the odors recognized by AKC and NACSW. Each session we will review the previously learned odor by your dog and teach it a new one. As the class reaches the last two weeks we’ll challenge you and your dog to locate those odors in different locations(indoor, outdoor, and vehicles) and around other distractions.

Once you’ve completed the 6 week class you can continue to train with us and receive follow up training, learn new odors, and train in an environment for detection dogs with no distractions. Maintenance training is $25 a month. No contract needed, just meet us on Saturday’s for your maintenance training.

This is not a law enforcement class. 10 dogs per class.

Class Dates; May 11th, 18th, 25th, June 1st, 8th, and 15th.
