NYPA is pleased to announce the launch of its education program under K-Solar! NYPA invites Middle and High School teachers in your school districts to participate in a FREE professional development workshop to help you bring clean energy and solar education into your classroom.
A key component of K-Solar is to connect the high growth field of solar energy to curriculum, allowing teachers to use solar as a tool for students to learn about renewable energy and sustainability, and as a catalyst for STEM learning. NYPA, in partnership with Solar One, a non-profit Green Energy Education organization, will be providing FREE professional development (PD) workshops for NYS teachers covering clean energy and solar lessons and activities.
Solar One’s Green Design Lab (GDL) is a STEM-focused, interdisciplinary sustainability program that provides students with hands-on experiential learning. At the professional development workshops, teachers will be provided with the training and curricular instructional guides to integrate solar content and activities into their coursework. GDL inspires students in STEM, emerging green technology, and green careers, while promoting behavioral change in the direction of energy efficiency and healthier, greener schools. Solar One’s Professional Development workshops are interactive, leading teachers through the hands-on activities so that they have the opportunity to learn by doing.
Please note: these trainings are for New York State teachers and administrators only. Both public and non-public school teachers may attend.
Light Breakfast and Lunch Provided.
