K-3 Reading Summit

This virtual event will kick off a year of professional development opportunities aimed at increasing student achievement in K-3 Literacy through evidence - based strategies.

The summit will include an introduction to several pieces of literature; Speech to Print: Language Essentials for Teachers by Louisa Moats, How the Brain Learns Mathematics by David Sousa, and Picture-Perfect Science by Emily Morgan and Karen Ansberry. Participants will hear from these authors and have the opportunity to sign up for continued learning by participating in book studies and workshops. Books and materials for will be mailed to you before the event. Zoom links and connection information will be emailed to participants along with information about signing up to receive credit from NNU for your participation.

Professional development credit will be available to participants who work directly with K-3 students. To receive 1 PD Credit for attending the summit educators must be present the entire day of activities, plan a lesson, and write a paper reflecting on the things that they learned during the summit and how they might use them in their classrooms.

Additional PD Credits will be offered to those who sign up for the book studies and workshops. You will be asked during online registration if you’d like more information about these exciting opportunities that will continue into the 2021-2022 school year!
