Allegheny Intermediate Unit Math & Science Collaborative Math and Science Educator Networks build a professional learning community of STEM teachers. Each network meets two times per year to explore and share successful strategies to actively engage students, connecting to research and resources, as well as the PA Academic Standards for Reading and Writing in Science and Technical Subjects.
The K-2 Early Learner STEM network will discuss pedagogical principles of effective STEM education and involve you in a number of STEM activities relevant to your grade band. Highlights include introduction to STORYTIME STEM-PACKS, an educational innovation that is adaptable to a variety of educational environments. A STORYTIME STEM-PACK is comprised of one piece of children’s literature and accompanying STEM learning activities that directly connect to the theme and main ideas featured in the children’s literature, as well as to the PA Science Standards/Next Generation Science Standards and PA Core State Standards/Common Core State Standards.
