Event Details

Recently, a disturbing number of studies have shown that some juveniles are likely to give false information – even false confessions – when questioned by police. Media outlets have seized this story and are actively searching for cases involving questionable interrogation techniques of juveniles. When these stories arise, news outlets do not hesitate to publish the officer’s name and agency associated with the investigation.

The fact is that juveniles are at a different stage developmentally than adults. They require a different approach when it comes to interrogations. Investigators seeking to obtain information or confessions from juveniles must acknowledge these mental and psychological differences in during questioning. Agencies that ignore this truth do so at their own peril.

In this 90 minute webinar, veteran prosecutor, child forensic interviewer, and trained interrogator, Mark Booher, will provide valuable techniques investigators can use to protect the community, the case, and the department. Discussion will include:

• Why juveniles are different
• Juvenile Interviewer Pitfalls
• Behavioral Analysis & Minors
• Questioning Approaches for Juveniles
• Getting Minranda Right!
• How to Obtain Reliable Information/Confessions
• AND MORE!!!!

This is a live event with a Q & A session to follow, so make sure you bring your questions! We look forward to “seeing” you there!
