Justice Summer Series- Virtual Conversation
Event Information
About this Event
We’re excited to once again host the Justice Summer Series! The kick-off will take place virtually on Thursday, June 11, at 6:30 PM. Though the series will look different this year, we look forward to hosting these events to generate conversations about justice in our city.
For the first installment, we will discuss the importance of safety and shalom in light of COVID-19. We are thrilled to welcome two wonderful panelists who will be sharing with us out of their personal and professional experiences during the pandemic: Reverend Todd Atkins, pastor of Salem Institutional Baptist Church, and Jon Fortune, Assistant City Manager of Dallas.
This event is free, but registration will be required, so be sure to register yourself here and invite a friend. You don't want to miss it! We will send you the link the day of the event to all those who have registered.
For more information or any questions, please reach out to us at info@actforjustice.org.
Pre-Event Resources for Attendees
Are you as excited as we are? We wanted to share these questions for reflection and the following news article to help prepare for the discussion about the importance of safety and shalom in light of COVID-19 in Dallas.
- What has been the biggest disruption to your own life under shelter-at-home?
- How have you “loved your neighbor” during this time?
- How do you see COVID-19 impacting your own perception of safety? The actual safety of your neighborhood?
And here is an article from earlier this month discussing crime trends in Texas cities during COVID-19 (take a look at Dallas).
