Clause 40 Foundation Presents: Conversations on Emerging Scholarship in Criminal Law and Policy (Open to the Public)
About this event
From bite mark comparisons to arson indicators to blood spatter analysis, the proliferation of shoddy forensic science in American courtrooms is an ongoing crisis. Judges are allowing the use of "expert" testimony involving forensic techniques with no scientific validity, leading innocent people to be convicted of terrible crimes.
Through his work as Director of Strategic Litigation at the Innocence Project, M. Chris Fabricant has fought against the use of junk science in the legal system, and he has freed innocent people from death row. His new book, Junk Science and the American Criminal Justice System, details the rise of junk science, the movement pushing back against it, and the urgent efforts to find and free the wrongfully convicted before their time runs out.
