About this event
Juneteenth is the oldest, nationally celebrated commemoration of the historical event on June 19th, 1865, when word of the emancipation proclamation finally reached the enslaved in Galveston, Texas. Two and a half years after the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln delivered the Emancipation Proclamation, where Black people were considered free and delivered from enslavement. A new and uncertain way of life began.
All across the United States, and beyond, celebrations commemorate the historical event of 1865 in Galveston, Texas. Today, more than 156 years since, African Americans have elevated this celebration, publicly and privately to one of the most important celebrations of Black history.
Juneteenth celebrates freedom for all, worldwide. Juneteenth promotes unity and builds self-esteem through reflection, education, and acknowledgment of achievements.
This event encourages people of all races, nationalities, and ethnicities to join together to support and participate in Juneteenth celebrations.
Join us to learn about the history of Juneteenth and its impact on Black Americans, the latest data on Black Americans in the US, and from an esteemed panel of Chief Diversity Officers.
A portion of proceeds from this event will be donated to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
