ChessPalace is hosting a Scholastic chess tournament at SteelCraft Garden Grove.

Open to students in Kindergarten to 12th grade only. US Chess Federation membership is required and can register for it onsite.

Details on this outdoor chess tournament:

Sections (*subject to change depending on the number of players)

  1. K-12th grade Open section
  2. K-8th grade Under 1000
  3. K-6th grade rated Under 800 
  4. K-3rd grade Under 400

Check-in between 9-9:15 AM and Round 1 starts at 9:30 AM with awards estimated at around 3:00 pm. There will be 4-5 rounds depending on time availability.

Time control: Game 30 minutes, delay 5 seconds

Awards: Trophies awarded in each section

Entry Fee: $36  ($50 onsite); Limited seats available, please sign up early.

***SteelCraft has a strict no outside food and drinks policy except for water bottles. Food and beverages are available for purchase from the food vendors. Please also note that this is an outdoor venue next to the street. There will be a variety of loud sounds from customers, music, and vehicles and a range of weather conditions depending on the day.
