Join Made in Fort Point on Wednesday June 10th from 5-7pm for a celebration of our June Featured Artist, Liliana Folta. Wine and refreshments will be served. Liliana Folta was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has lived and worked in Fort Point since 2009 and soon will relocate her studio in Berlin, Germany. She has studied Fine Arts and ceramics at Tarrant County College NE Texas, were she received an “Outstanding Merit Award” and a “Distinguished Scholarship.”
(Liliana has) chosen the raven as a powerful symbol and an intelligent bird; "The Sentinel," appears as a strong figure protecting his habitat.
"In this ongoing series of paintings and white sculptural ceramics titled Desplazados y Enredados (Displaced and Tangled), I am exploring the reactions of fauna and flora in response to human behavior.
My ceramic works coalesce into a variety of forms, from wall sculptures and the tridimensional to installations. These surface treatments and hand-built methods are a slow process that allows me the opportunity to understand my chosen medium."
Every month Made in Fort Point, located in the rear of the 315onA residential building, dedicates an expanded space to featuring the work of one artist participating in the store. After expressing interest, artists are randomly selected. The work shown is of their choosing.
Thanks again to our store sponsors 315onA and The Barking Crab.
