Is the CMMI Associate Exam difficult?

The exam is tricky, but not difficult. It's entirely "open book," and ever question can be answered by finding examples in the model or the class materials. In terms of difficulty, it falls between the Scrum Master and PMP exams - not super easy, but not super difficult either.

How long do I have to take the exam?

The exam is 60 single choice questions, and you will have 150 minutes (2.5 hours) to complete it. There is an 80% pass rate requirement.

What do I need to do to quality for an appraisal team?

You'll need to complete the Foundations of Capability and one "Excellence" class, and score more than 79% on the exam. You will also need to meet certain experience and conflict of interest requirement laid out by your lead appraiser.
