Event description

"Working with FMEA - What's the Worst That Can Happen?"

Overview: This virtual discussion will introduce participants to the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) tool and how to use it in a Lean/Six Sigma project. FMEA is a step-by-step approach for identifying all possible failures in a design, a manufacturing or assembly process, or a product or service.

We will use an FMEA simulation to identify high‐risk process steps, based on the consequences of failure.

About the Presenter: Eric C. Smathers, LSSBB, is a Performance Improvement Facilitator with the Medical University of South Carolina, and a retired Air Force Master Sergeant with over a decade of experience in facilitating QI/PI projects and initiatives. Eric is a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), the Institute of Industrial and System Engineers (IISE), Society of Health Systems (SHS), Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and is Chapter Secretary for the Charleston National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA).
