The United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio Federal Practice Seminar is open to all attorneys, included those already admitted to practice in the Southern District of Ohio and those seeking admission. This seminar is designed to prepare participants for practice in the Southern District of Ohio. Speakers will discuss practice before the Magistrate and District Judges, as well as practice in Bankruptcy Court. Speakers will also discuss the Local Rules, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure.

All attorneys seeking admission to the bar of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio must attend this seminar. In addition, all attorneys seeking admission must complete an application for admission to the Bar pursuant to Local Rule 83.3(c)(1). The application and information for mailing that to the Clerk's Office of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio can be found on their website at: http://www.ohsd.uscourts.gov/attorney-admission

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TWO PART PROCESS. YOU MUST REGISTER AND ATTEND THIS SEMINAR AND COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO THE BAR AND SUBMIT THAT TO THE COURT.

If you are registering for someone else, you must enter the attendees name in the registration.


The Swearing In of newly admitted attorneys will take place at the conclusion of the Federal Practice Seminar.

Attendees will receive 3.0 hours of general CLE credit approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio.

If you are unable to attend the registered Federal Practice Seminar, you may attend the next Seminar (held in June and December each year), please contact Stephanie Rawlings at (614) 719-3223 or stephanie_rawlings@ohsd.uscourts.gov.

Or, you may attend a Seminar in one of the other cities in the Southern District of Ohio -- Cincinnati or Dayton, however, those are run by separate FBA chapters and we are unable to transfer your registration.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is recommended that you bring a printed copy or electronic receipt of your registration to ensure admittance on the day of the event.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

No, this seminar is for CLE credit, therefore your name must match the ticket registration.
