Workshop on: Strategies for Encouraging Unmotivated and Disinterested Students

This workshop will look at low achieving students. As teachers, we all have students who constantly use their cellphones during class. They sit in the back of the class and never bring books or do homework. What are some root causes for these students to become disinterested and unmotivated? This workshop we will brainstorm and share best teaching strategies and practices to help teachers reach students who are either not interested or not participating to their potential.

As teachers, are we conscious of the words we use in class to encourage students’ progress and achievements? Using encouraging language is one way to give them positive feedback and get them engaged in class. Teachers should maintain high standards for their classroom learning goals/objectives for all students, including these low achieving students; understanding students’ learning styles in order to effectively tailor individual instruction is critical in reaching unmotivated or disinterested students.

Date: Friday, June 14, 2019

Time: 2:00 to 3:30 P.M.
