Join us as we catch the Full Moon on June 13th with Jackie Skrzynski on this special Silent Walk.

About this event

Black Rock Forest welcomes back Jackie Skrzynski, former Artist in Residence at BRF in 2021 on this special Silent Walk. Silent Walks create an unfiltered experience of landscape as art. Rather than seeing representations of landscape in a museum, far from the actual land depicted, viewers physically move themselves through what they were observing. Contextualizing the Silent Walks as an artistic experience allow participants to “turn on their art light”. Attendees will meet in the bus parking lot and walk to Aleck Meadow Reservoir pausing briefly, then proceed back down to parking lot.

In connection with June’s Silent Walk, Jackie is exhibiting in the window of Ann Street Gallery in Newburgh starting June 11. Her installation includes a large drawing of a coyote captured on a motion camera, along with reflective eyes hidden in the vegetation near the window. She reminds viewers of the prevalence of urban wildlife while also inviting city dwellers to experience the flora and fauna of Black Rock Forest through the Silent Walk.
