About the Workshop
This highly engaging and interactive business event provides both amateur and professional speakers an opportunity to learn how to create an attractive and effective speaker media kit that wins speaking gigs. Attendees will learn the importance of having a professional speaker media kit and be provided a template to build their own. Additionally, attendees will hear from up to 8 brave workshop participants who will each present a topic of their choosing. Audience members are expected to participate by providing constructive feedback to each speaker at the conclusion of their respective presentation.
Attendees will learn:
- what is a speaker media kit and why you should have one
- the difference between a speaker media kit and a speaker sheet
- the elements that make up a speaker media kit
- how to create a professional speaker reel that establishes you as the expert
- where a speaker media kit fits within your overall marketing plan
- who needs your speaker reel and how to get it into their hands
- how to improve your delivery skill as a speaker

General admission is just $20 for early birds before August 1st or regularly $25* and includes entry into the networking and learning event for any professional interested in learning how to build your platform as a professional speaker. Attendees should bring plenty of business cards to share. Additional opportunities exist to have your headshot professionally taken for just a little more*. Use your new headshot in your speaker media kit, on your website or within your social media profiles.
For those interested in building your speaker reel right away, you can elect to participate as a Featured or VIP speaker. Speakers have the opportunity to present a 10- to 15-minute presentation to the group on a topic of your choosing (must be PG). Your speech will be timed and cut off promptly so please be mindful of your timing when developing your presentation. At the conclusion of your speech, you will have the opportunity to take questions about your topic as well as to receive feedback from the audience to help you to improve your presentation skills. The entire event is recorded and you will receive a digital recording of your presentation for your promotional use and inclusion into your speaker media kit in addition to a new headshot.
You need video footage of you speaking in order to be taken seriously by meeting and event planners, even for free gigs, but how do you get that footage if you can't get onstage?

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Free, non-permit street parking is available on Damen Avenue and surrounding side streets. Accessible by Red Line to Berwyn then 92 Foster westbound to Damen or Brown Line to Damen then take 50 Damen bus northbound to Foster.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Please bring plenty of business cards (at least 25) and a collaborative attitude. No outside food or drink allowed.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, but it can be helpful to speed up the check-in process at the door. Displaying confirmation on your mobile device is fine too.
Is food provided?
No. Refreshments are not included. No outside food or drink allowed. Please patronize Let Them Eat Chocolate's delicious food and beverage offerings during your visit.
What is the refund policy?
We can not provide any refunds for this event. If you find that you are unable to attend, you may transfer the ticket to another party but you must notify us via email asap to email@example.com.
