Stuck in the middle of a project? Having trouble getting started? Jumpstart your writing with prompts and exercises that explore the drive to visit and explore new frontiers. Since the Illiad, storytellers and poets have been drawn to tell stories of travel and adventure, have longed to discover what's just beyond the horizon, and have wrestled with a twin, but contrasting call to return to the familiarity of home. In this workshop, we are going to quench that thirst to see new places and follow it as far as we can, while also ensuring we create road maps to keep our work flowing long after the session. No passports required, but do bring along your most captivating quests. Through guided writing prompts and exercises, we will craft a piece of writing that explores the unfamiliar world and, through that lens, reimagine what home could be. This workshop is ideal for writers who long to begin but aren’t sure which direction to head, those midway through a project who need fresh winds in their sails, and those who seek to deepen the sense of place in their project, as well as writers who just love to travel. Come with a project in mind and travel mementos, or simply an openness to seeing where the winds take you.
