Before you can get the contract, you have to get their attention. The CIRAS Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) hopes to help with that by providing this hands-on workshop. This half-day, high-energy event is designed to help Iowa businesses create (or refine) their Capabilities Statements and jumpstart their marketing to local, state, and federal agencies.

Iowa businesses who attend this workshop not only will learn how to understand the basics of putting together a capability statement, they also will learn how to focus on the most important part ­– understanding a firm's value, past performance, and what the government and teaming partners are looking for in a capability statement.

Attendees will discover:

  • How to define the value of your company and the products or services you sell

  • How to communicate differentiation

  • The differences between product and service-based companies

  • How to develop and use a capability statement and position it for increased perception of corporate maturity

  • How and when to tailor your capability statement to fit specific objectives or opportunities (either for specific governments or specific teaming possibilities)
