Connected, smart devices have become pervasive. These "Things" already outnumber more traditional computing devices and are set to surpass the 100 billion devices mark within a few short years. They represent a new faction of software development where the focus is on efficiency, novelty and scale. Connected with cloud services, a single developer can enable scenarios that normally requires very expensive vendors, specialized solutions and certifiable headaches.
In this month's session, we will talk about Windows 10 IoT and instead of making promises, we will look at what you can do TODAY with a $35 Raspberry Pi 2 and computer components you probably already have lying around your office. We will even talk about how you can choose to use your existing skillset (.NET or HTML) to either build new Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps for the Rapsberry Pi 2 or port any apps you already build. Finally we will talk about how Azure (or a cloud of your choice) can serve as the processing power behind these low-impact devices. This is not formal, we will go off track and we will have fun because this is all experimental and forward-looking. Let's build on cool ideas and design some intelligent systems.
