Description

UK Workshops 2018

Hello everyone, my name is Ruben Gorjian, an award winning international wedding photographer based in NY, USA. Being a wedding photographer is a really a hard work, very stressful and demanding and where having additional creative technical skills will help you capture shots to delight both you and your clients.
I will teach and show you how to “Create Your Own Light” when natural light is not available or not in your favour, creating images that will WOW your clients and YOU will no longer shy away from that “ideal” spot due to poor light.
In these two intense days I will walk you through all that I have learnt on my own journey and many aspects of using Off Camera Flash (OCF) to capture amazing images that will reward you and set you apart from other photographers. Giving you the know-how and confidence to make the very best of almost any location you are presented with.
You will learn:-
• OCF – how to achieve greater images using Off Camera Flash – Speedlites and portable stobes
• Light – understand the colour and behaviour of light (natural, artificial, direction, shape, form and quality)
• Composition Techniques – understand the compositional elements of a photograph and how they can be used to create stronger images
• Lenses – learn about lens selection and OCF accessories
• Histograms – learn how to read the histograms and benefit from this information to achieve better balanced exposures
• Camera settings – explore advanced settings and commands on DSLR cameras
• How to control and exploit depth of field

During this practical workshop I want to share my experience of not just common struggles but also the opportunities that can be made use of on location and a path to success with you all. You will learn basic and advanced lighting techniques, how to use posing and composition in-order to create images that will amaze. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions throughout the sessions and I will be on hand to assist with any technical queries you may have.
The themes for this workshop are bridal, fashion and beach wear. We will be shooting with amazing models prepared by HMUAs and fantastic outfits, carefully chosen for this workshop to create stunning images to improve your awareness, capability, skills and your portfolio.
The location of this workshop The Mill, HORDLE, HAMPSHIRE, SO41 6DJ, which was specifically chosen as it is an established wedding venue which readily offers stunning variations and those “tricky spots”. We will have access to an old character building indoor and outdoor, a riverside location with a bridge across it, easy access to The New Forest and also a fifteen minute drive to the beach, where we will end day one capturing beach shots and shots during golden hour.
Much thought has gone into this location for this workshop, which has a variety of nice shoot spots and I will show you how to make these work for you, giving you the skills needed and ultimately preparing you to take advantage of any location you find yourself in. This considered location will expose you to spots that can be made to work and will improve your overall skills of composition, posing and most importantly, the effective use of OCF.
You will be an intermediate to professional photographer, or even a competent interested “amateur”. Your photography foundations MUST be solid in-order to maximise these two days. You must have some knowledge of the basics of OCF and composition to get the best from this workshop.
Recommended lenses to bring with you - 70-200mm, Wide Angle e.g. 16-35mm, 85mm. Don’t worry if you do not have all, or some or any of these as I will work with what you have, so you can get the best shots possible
