Event description

The Mitchell Institute for Airpower Studies

Invites You to Attend the

July 12th Mitchell Hour

Chuck de Caro

S.E.I.W.: Suppression of Enemy Information Warfare

Chuck de Caro is the CEO of Aerobureau Corporation. He is an American strategist and futurist who originated the term SOFTWAR, which is defined as: “The hostile use of global visual media to shape another society’s will by changing its view of reality.”

His talk delineates how SOFTWAR can be used to kill Al Qaeda once and for all and touches on the development of the new field of TVINT (Television Intelligence) and CINAN (Cinematic Analysis).

Mr. de Caro will also introduce the concept of the SOFTWAR Virtual Unit (SVU) which he has pioneered in research projects for DoD. Now approaching the prototype stage, SVUs can be used as strategic force multipliers, especially in the current defense budget climate; moreover SVUs can be quickly tailored against threats other than Al Qaeda, now and in the future.

Mr. de Caro presently works as a consultant for governments and organizations as well as a lecturer in and out of the United States. He lectures regularly at the National Defense University, the National Defense Intelligence College, and the NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany. This work expands on his SOFTWAR theories and looks at the use of media and marketing in warfare. In January 2011, de Caro’s books, articles, DoD studies and videos on SOFTWAR and Information Warfare were integrated into the Military Science curriculum at a ceremony at his alma mater, the United States Air Force Academy.

His current book-in-progress is called Killing Al Qaeda and evolved from a presentation of the same name given at the prestigious DoD-sponsored Command and Control Research Program. His work brought him to prominence as he used his theories to assist the US Government in the on-going conflict with Al Qaeda.
