Fridays in the Garden Series

CCA's MFA in Writing program invites all writers, poets, and lovers of the literary arts to our weekly Fall reading series -- we bring in today’s most vital voices for the benefit of the entire Bay Area writing community. This week's visiting author is CCA MFA Writing alumnus and best-selling Julie Lythcott-Haims (How to Raise an Adult, Real American).

Julie Lythcott-Haims

Julie Lythcott-Haims is deeply interested in what prevents humans from leading meaningful, fulfilling lives. Her first book, How to Raise an Adult takes on the harm of helicopter parenting. Her second book, Real American, examines the thousand small cuts racism imposes on African-Americans. She holds a BA in American Studies from Stanford University, a JD from Harvard Law School, and an MFA in writing from California College of the Arts. She currently lives in Silicon Valley with her partner of close to thirty years, our two teenagers, and her mother.
