Kick off this uniquely Philadelphian mural tribute to honor Judge A. Leon Higginbotham Jr. - See the design unveil!
About this event
Join Mural Arts Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Citizen, and the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School to announce a uniquely Philadelphian tribute to the life and legacy of Judge A. Leon Higginbotham Jr. (1928-1998), a civil rights pioneer.
Enjoy music and Federal Donuts, and get a first look at the mural design to be painted overlooking Chestnut Street, serving as a reminder of Higginbotham's singular voice of moral leadership to inspire a new generation of citizens. The project also includes an editorial series, The Color of Law, and ongoing programming that takes his legacy beyond the wall.
After the design unveil, learn about other notable figures in a 30-minute guided Mural Arts tour of the newly designated Social Justice Mural Corridor. This group of murals, spanning five blocks in West Philadelphia, displays heroes in the social justice movement. The upcoming Judge Higginbotham mural will be a fourth addition to the Social Justice Mural Corridor.
This event is outdoors and free and open to the public. There is abundant street parking available. For questions please contact ops@thephiladelphiacitizen.org
