Jubilee Encores presents 1986: The Act
Event Information
About this Event
This month, we will be screening the film, 1986: The Act, by critically acclaimed writer and director Dr. Andrew Wakefield. The film shines an intense light on the little-known fact that vaccine makers have no liability for deaths and injuries caused by their vaccines. As a result of the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, the film also exposes the dark side of liability protection which has resulted in perversion of what was originally intended when signed by Ronald Reagan over 3 decades ago.
The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the subject, "Why Should We Trust the Pharmaceutical Industry?" Leading the discussion will be the film's producer, Lori Gregory, Dr. Rueben Warren, Director of Tuskegee University's National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care, Dr. Darnita Muhammad, and Dr. Alim Muhammad.
The film can be viewed until 6:00 pm CT on Saturday, December 19, 2020. You will receive links to both the film and the Zoom panel discussion via email.
Jubilee Encores features many of the acclaimed films from the Jubilee Film Festival, the official film festival of the Annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee held in Selma, Alabama each March to commemorate Bloody Sunday and the Voting Rights Movement of 1965.
