The second night of JUBA! at the Dance Center of Columbia College features performances by Jason Janas' Co.MMIT, and Chicago Human Rhythm Project's own Stone Soup Rhythms!

Co.MMIT will be performing Essentials.

"The show is about rhythm and energy. Music can heal. The hand pan drum [Hang] has been known to heal. We find our expression through music. And in this show we are expressing three things through the art of tap dance: Patience, Understanding and Peace.

In the show, Jason has reached deeper into his soul to find this movement and choreo for the show. It’s a work in progress as life is. Living in Detroit has helped bring him back to his east coast roots and vibes.

I truly hope this show allows You to feel things. Tap dance is the vehicle but the message I hope is heard."

Respect and Admiration,

Jason Janas

Director of Co.MMIT

Stone Soup Rhythms is the resident ensemble of the Chicago Human Rhythm Project and is a collective of independent artists. The name refers to a European fable in which a wayfaring stranger brings a struggling community together to create a feast amidst famine. Chicago Human Rhythm Project is the oldest and largest presenter of American tap and contemporary rhythmic expression in the United States. CHRP presents percussive arts in concert, education, and economic development programs through collaboration. Its signature programs include: Stomping Grounds (city-wide percussive arts festival); Rhythm World (America’s oldest tap dance festival); We ALL Got Rhythm (free, arts-education programs); the American Rhythm Center (shared dance-arts space/incubator, business development center); and Stone Soup Rhythms (resident artistic collective).

This performance will be a compilation of all the works that Dani Borak has created during his three year residency at Chicago Human Rhythm Project. The evening will also feature a world premier of Borak's new work - ECHOS: Alien/Rytme/Fusion. Point to counterpoint, melody to harmony, shape to shadow, movement to stillness, physical to spiritual – ECHOS exist between thought and passion.
