Event description

Description

The Benito Juarez Community Drama Ensemble presents The Wizard Of Oz. Come join Dorothy from Pilsen, her dog Zathras, Tio,Tia, and all the characters you know and love. Our community ensemble members included students from Cooper Elementary Dual Language Academy, Manuel Jr. Perez Elementary, Joseph Jungman Elementary, and Benito Juarez Community Academy.

Producing a musical with over 100 cast members needing costuming, creating 9 different sets, all constructed and painted by students is a expensive undertaking. The royalties for the show alone are almost a thousand dollars. Currently the production is funded by grant monies from RISE Academy (Resources Invested in School Enrichment) of Frida Kahlo Community Organization through the 21Century Community Learning Centers Grant funds, a small grant from the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre given to Juarez staff and students involved in CPS/Shakespeare, and some school funds.

Any support you provide will be greatly appreciated and help make this first Juarez Drama Community Ensemble Production spectacular and will help support the Ensemble’s future productions.

You can support this and future productions by becoming a PATRON. While all tickets are free, by ORDERING a PATRON ticket at a suggested donation of $5 per person, you will get preferred seating and support future productions. To ensure preferred seating tickets must be purchased on line.
