Description

The JSSA Training Institute presents:

CONSCIOUS EATING ACROSS THE LIFESPAN: Supporting a healthy relationship with food at any age

Presenter: Tracie Strucker, PhD, LCMFT

Tuesday, April 17, 9am-12:15pm

DESCRIPTION:

In this workshop, we will look at the how eating behaviors change throughout the lifespan (0-100 years old), how to support a healthy relationship with food at each stage and interventions to get back on track when the relationship with food becomes a problem. We will also explore the role of emotional awareness, alexithymia, experiential absorption and the impact on emotional eating. Finally, we will review the unconscious eating cycle with suggestions for redirecting problem eating behaviors toward opportunities for greater consciousness in one’s relationship with food.

We will also do a fun and tasty experiential Conscious Eating exercise too!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn to identify developmental changes in eating behaviors across the lifespan.
  2. Learn the role of emotional awareness, alexithymia and experiential absorption and its impact on unconscious eating behaviors.
  3. Review the unconscious eating cycle that leads to mindless eating and interventions to redirect problem eating behaviors.
