Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PST)
Engine Yard is pleased to announce the first annual JRubyConf, to take place Sunday, November 22nd, immediately following RubyConf 2009! We've been working on putting this together for a little while now, and it's finally time to share.
The JRuby project has been making incredible progress and gaining popularity; at the same time, the community has been growing like crazy. At this stage, we think JRuby definitely needs a conference of its own. The roster will be highly technical, cutting edge, and will feature JRuby experts from all over the globe.
Oh! I think I may have forgotten to mention the best part: JRubyConf will be 100% free!
We're working hard to put the final touches on a great lineup, and we'll have those details for you all in a few days, but for now, let's talk about some of the highlights: the entire JRuby Core Team will be on hand (Charlie Nutter, Thomas Enebo, Nick Sieger and Ola Bini), and in addition to delivering a talk or two, they will be sitting on a panel for a full Q&A session. We've got talks on JRuby on Rails, JRuby on Google App Engine, and a peek at production apps inside and outside the Enterprise using JRuby today.
The event will take place in the same location as RubyConf, so no hotel changes needed. A huge thank you to our generous partners and sponsors at EdgeCase, Thoughtworks Studios, Relevance, Gilt Groupe, Sun, 8th Light, Integrum, LinkedIn and New Relic, who are helping to fund JRubyConf, and who place a vote of confidence for JRuby every day when they build tools and apps for their clients using it.
