The best jQuery training is now available online.
Over the course of two afternoons, Ben Alman will help you “level up” your jQuery knowledge with our online jQuery Essentials training. It’s an immersive look at patterns and techniques you can use to improve your code, your site, and your development experience. We’ll cover topics such as:
- Best Practices How to avoid common performance and maintainability pitfalls.
- Debugging How to figure out what’s wrong when your code isn’t behaving as expected.
- Event Delegation How it works and when to use it.
- Deferreds and Promises How to use the functionality introduced in jQuery 1.5 to tame asynchronous code.
- Templates How to efficiently update your page using only raw data from the server.
- Code Organization How to keep your code from turning into a tangled mess.

How it works
You'll get an email Monday morning, June 3 with a private link inviting you to attend a Fuze meeting along with further instructions. The broadcast will also be recorded for later viewing should you have to miss all or part of a session. The meeting room will open at 1 p.m. both days and class will begin promptly at 1:30. Class will conclude at 5 p.m. both days.
This course will be livestreamed online via Fuze from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 3 and Tuesday, June 4. In order to participate during the event, you'll need a stable Internet connection and a modern browser. For a complete list of system requirements, click here.
To get the most out of the course materials, attendees should be ready with a code editor and and browser. We strongly recommend the Google Chrome browser. We recommend one of the following text editors: TextMate, MacVim, Coda, or Sublime Text 2 for Mac; and E TextEditor, Notepad++, UltraEdit, or Sublime Text 2 for Windows. The most important thing is that you use a text editor you're comfortable with.
