Journalists moonlighting as rockstars battle to be named DC's Best Media Band on Friday, February 26. Six bands are preparing for a show of musical ferocity from the Hard Rock Cafe stage: The classic rock and pop covers of repeat champions Suspicious Package, featuring Christina Sevilla, Josh Meyer, Bryan Greene, Tim Burger, and Tom Toles; the honky tonking R & B realm of Nobody's Business with Jonathan Landay and Fredrick Kunkle; the edgy 80s covers of Journopalooza supergroup HotPocket with Andy Sullivan, Daniel de Vise, and John Kelly; The NativeMakers, a popular Capitol Hill garage band featuring Carl Hulse; the alt-originals of Notaries Public with Emily Crockett; and the brooding psychadellic surfer jams of Shark Week with Daniel Newhauser. For more info, see www.journopalooza.com.
Tickets $20 in advance; $30 at the door. Proceeds will help the Journopalooza Fund protect and assist journalists operating at risk in Syria and other conflict areas.
