Event description

Description

Join three Los Angeles-based journalists, David Ulin, Margaret Wappler and Adam Popescu, as they discuss their roads to writing fiction, paths to publication, and the differences between getting a great story and creating one.

A regular contributor to the New York Times, Adam Popescu is the author of Nima, a debut novel based on his reporting on life in the Himalayas for the BBC. David Ulin, former book critic and editor at the Los Angeles Times, is the co-author of Ear to the Ground, a satirical send-up of 1990s Hollywood. Margaret Wappler, a culture reporter for the Los Angeles Times, Elle, and other venues, recently published her debut novel, Neon Green, about a family reckoning with loss and unexpected visitors. All three of their novels were published by Unnamed Press.

The Unnamed Press publishes literature from around the world. Whether fiction, memoir or something in between, they are always interested in unlikely protagonists, undiscovered territories and courageous voices. Distributed by Publishers Group West, their sister nonprofit press is Phoneme Media, which promotes cross-cultural understanding by connecting people and ideas through translated books and films.
