Event description

Description

We all know that publishing is one of (if not the!) most important thing for a successful career in research, but many of us have never had any guidance on how to actually write a good paper. This is about to change! Based on the results of the survey we ran a few months ago, the PG Committee has organised for David Rowland from the UQ Learning Centre to run a workshop on writing journal articles.

Key things this workshop will address are:

  • Writing an abstract that best reflects the message of your article
  • Ensuring your article tells a logical story, i.e:
    • Why should we care about what you are doing?
    • Why have you taken the approach you have?
    • What did you find out?
    • What does this mean?)
  • A summary of services and other workshops offered on campus to help you with all aspects of publishing

The details are:

Date: Thursday 18th October

Time: 10 am – 12 pm

Location: Sir Lew Edwards (Bldg 14), Room 217

Places are limited so please register.

Hopefully we’ll see you there!

All the best,

Postgrad Committee
