About this event

Take a guided tour through the life and times of Maine's most famous Civil War hero, four-term Maine Governor, and Bowdoin College professor, Joshua L. Chamberlain. Seasoned docents take small groups through the museum's nine historic rooms, most restored to Chamberlain's time. The tours covers his full biography and experiences; his talented wife, Fanny, and their children; the house's unusual and diverse architecture; and the Chamberlain legacy. Chamberlain's Gettysburg boots, his original Medal of Honor, his horse's saddle, his governor's desk and chair, and much more are on display. The museum shop sells a wide array of books, gifts, memorabilia, postcards, and more.
