ABOUT THE ARTIST
Josh Caterer is best known as the lead singer of legendary Chicago punk band Smoking Popes. From their indie albums of the early 90’s to their critically acclaimed major label releases, the Popes created a unique blend of buzzsaw guitars, caffeinated rhythms and heartfelt crooning vocals that influenced a generation of young pop-punk bands in their wake. On his new solo album “The Hideout Sessions” (Pravda Records), Caterer joins forces with two veterans of the Chicago music scene, John San Juan (Hushdrops) and John Perrin (NRBQ), and the chemistry is undeniable. Together, they throw a surprising mix of musical ingredients into the power-pop blender, and the result is a truly savory sonic experience.
Hushdrops are a veteran power trio whose newest album, The Static, captures them in all of their scrappy, homegrown glory. "Crazy Horse plays Bacharach". John San Juan and Jim Shapiro are carrying on their trademark "melancholy garage" in honor of their legendary friend and drummer Joe Camarillo who, sadly, passed away in 2021. This will be their first appearance in Aurora since 2015.
