Special Event: The Impacts of Compassion and Service
Friday, May 10 – 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Thanks to our friend Skot Welch from Global Bridgebuilders, the Johnson Center will host Jose Bright to discuss his work in South Africa and the similarities to the work the urban areas in the U.S. Jose will be speaking at TedXGrandRapids the day before on Thursday, May 9, 2013.
Jose Bright is a consultant, teacher, speaker, author, and attorney living in South Africa. He is the director of the Bright Group, where he consults for the South African government in areas including strategic management, diversity, globalization, and economic development. In 2001, Mr. Bright founded the Teboho Trust in Soweto, a highly successful educational support platform for orphans, vulnerable and at-risk children and adolescents. The model, supported and owned by the community, also focuses on small business development and incubation for the caregivers of these children in Soweto.
