Event description
Jolly Grammar 1 & 2 workshop: Spelling & Grammar for grades 1 & 2

About this Event

Workshop: This workshop provides an overview of Jolly Grammar, which follows Jolly Phonics. Jolly Grammar provides teachers with a systematic and multi-sensory way to teach grammar and spelling. It uses actions and colors to help children identify parts of speech in sentences. Punctuation, morphemes, and sentence development are taught explicitly. Jolly Grammar also focuses on extending children’s knowledge of the alphabetic code beyond that covered in Jolly Phonics, and it teaches a number of useful spelling rules.

There are 6 years of Jolly Grammar. This workshop covers years 1 and 2.

Presenter: Rachel Griffin, certified Jolly Phonics & Grammar trainer, has taught in England, France, and the U.S. She recently moved with her family to Pennsylvania. She was a speaker at The Reading League conference in Syracuse, NY in October 2018. (Topic: Less Finnish, More British: Picking the Best for the U.S.). She has a Graduate Certificate in Reading from the University of Kansas Reading, and she has trained in LETRS for Early Childhood educators.

PLEASE NOTE: Before registering, ensure that you are able to set up a Zoom account. You can do this for free. We will be using Zoom for the webinar.
