Bring the whānau to discover our interactive education zones at the Māngere Town Centre and learn how biosolids help shape Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s future. Afterwards, join a free bus tour to Te Motu a Hiaroa (Puketutu Island) and see how our city’s wastewater treatment process works.

This Fun Day Out is all about learning by doing, asking questions, and seeing behind the scenes of one of Auckland’s most significant environmental restoration projects.

THE MAIN EVENT: Guided Tour to Te Motu a Hiaroa (Puketutu Island)

Hop on one of our free 16-seater vans for a hosted, once-in-a-lifetime tour to Te Motu a Hiaroa - a place closed to the public and deeply important to our water future. Learn how biosolids help restore the island, how the whenua is cared for today, and why future decisions matter for Auckland.


Seats are limited - bookings are essential. Join the waitlist now as seats will become available on the day!

Each van tour is hosted, lasts up to 45 minutes, and departs every 15 minutes between 11:45am–3:15pm.


This event is a chance for all Aucklanders to come together, celebrate our community, and learn how we can shape the future — together.


Booking Details

• Max 4 people per booking (2 adults + up to 2 children)

• Children = ages 5–15

• All passengers need a ticket

• Vans have no toilets — please use facilities before boarding

• Tour duration: up to 45 minutes

• Hosted commentary included

• Accessibility limited (step-up required)
