About this event

In present day Appalachian Georgia, a high school class explores the seminal American classic, The Crucible. As scandal swirls in their community and old heroes are unmasked, the English assignment becomes uncomfortably relevant for the students. The line between witch and heroine blurs in this post-Me Too examination of power, love, and sex education.

John Proctor Is the Villain was developed at the Ojai Playwrights Conference: Robert Egan, Artistic Director/Producer.

Produced by special arrangement with and all authorized performance materials supplied by WILLIAM MORRIS ENDEAVOR ENTERTAINMENT, LLC

Please note the following about the performance and our theater's current policies:

*ALL ATTENDEES MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED* Proof of vaccination must be shown at the Box Office via New York State Excelsior Pass or official Vaccine Card.

*If you have a Vaccine Exemption, you must notify our Box Office in advance by emailing boxoffice@skidmore.edu. Due to the small size of the performance space, special arrangements must be made for socially distant seating. In addition, you must show proof of a negative Covid test within 48 hours of the show.

*MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES INSIDE THE THEATER* No food or drink will be permitted at the performances.

The actors have permission from the college’s COVID Logistics Working Group to perform without masks. Actors participate in weekly testing and daily health checks. The Theater Department upholds the college’s COVID policies. The Theater Department also upholds student autonomy, consent based practices, and an ethics of care. We remain steadfastly mask friendly, no questions, no judgement. Please note, some actors may choose to remain masked according to their own comfort level.

  • Our box office will open for check-in at 7:30pm (1:30pm for the Sat. matinee).
  • The performance runs 120 minutes with a 10 minute intermission.
  • The Saturday Matinee (2pm) performance is a ‘masked matinee’ where everyone in the room will be masked, including the actors.
