Description

Doors at 6PM

Advance $35 | At the Door $40

This night celebrates the 80th birthday of John Corigliano, one of the most iconic American composers and recipient of a Pulitzer Award, five Grammy Awards, and an Oscar. A towering figure in contemporary music, his catalogue of over 100 composed scores have uniquely imprinted the orchestral canon, chamber music, film, and beyond.

This celebration, exclusively at National Sawdust, features a performance of Corigliano’s iconic work, “Mr. Tambourine Man”. Featured artists include choral ensemble and National Sawdust Artists-in-Residence Contemporaneous, American pianist Molly Morkoski, and soprano Lindsay Kesselman.

G. Schirmer Publishers writes: “In the wake of the controversy surrounding Bob Dylan’s Nobel Prize, John’s setting of Dylan lyrics (without a hint of Dylan’s music) may be the ultimate artistic testament to Dylan the poet.” This concert is one of three throughout the NS season celebrating Corigliano, with other concerts to be announced.
